Alumni Ambassadors

The Alumni Ambassador program is a leadership development program for talented and highly motivated alumni. The program aims to support ambassadors to achieve leadership positions within their own organisation, industry and community.

The program provides ambassadors with:
• Leadership training and mentoring through the Leadership Dialogue workshops
• Opportunities to support the PNGAAA National Executive in planning and decision making for the association
• Opportunities to represent the PNGAAA at high profile diplomatic and Australia Awards events
• Seed funding for projects that will contribute to the goals of the association.

Ambassadors serve a two-year term and are nominated by Australia Awards, their Institutions and their peers as alumni with strong leadership potential and the motivation and time to support the PNGAAA’s mission.

Alumni Grants Scheme

Do you have an idea or initiative that can create a positive impact to your professional association or company? This is your chance to make it happen. Australia Awards in Papua New Guinea in partnership with PNGAAA is pleased to advise alumni that they have access to funding under the Alumni Grants Scheme (AGS).

The AGS is open to financial members of PNGAAA to assist them contribute to PNG’s economic and social development and build strong and positive relationships with Australia.

Australia’s alumni across PNG have an opportunity to access the AGS to conduct the following types of activities:

Development activities

These activities contribute to developing a particular aspect of an organisation or community, e.g. community engagement, professional networking engagement, funding for workshop/training delivery, joint research with Australia, and supporting professional associations and peak bodies.

Knowledge sharing activities

These activities facilitate the sharing of knowledge and skills, e.g. delivery of training, seminar, workshop, white paper development, paper presentation at conferences, and journal article publications.

Capacity building activities

These activities build the capacity of alumni to contribute to the development of PNG, e.g. participation in high quality training, research, and professional visits to exchange expertise, skills and knowledge.

Grant amount

Grants are awarded up to K30,000 per application.

Eligibility for AGS

Financial members of PNGAAA who hold either regular or associate memberships may apply for an alumni grant on behalf of their employer or community organisation, which must also be registered with the Investment Promotion Authority. Individuals are NOT eligible to apply for an AGS grant.

The AGS is administered in a manner where considerations of gender, disability and social inclusion are fully integrated in AGS funded activities.

When are applications due?

There are two closing dates per year for AGS proposals.

The cut off dates for acceptance of AGS Proposals are 30 April for the first round per calendar year and 31 October for the second round. Please ensure you have your AGS Proposal in prior to the closing date. For further information please contact: grants@australiaawardspng.org

Professional Development Workshops

One of PNGAAA’s core business activities is providing professional development (PD) workshops to our members. As a financial member, you will be able to access FREE professional development workshops offered in Port Moresby and at any one of our provincial chapters.
