The PNGAAA Annual Dinner was Saturday, 13 October 2018 at the Holiday Inn Port Moresby. The dinner supports our efforts to deliver high-quality professional development programs for our members and the operations of our eight provincial chapters
The theme was Enhancing Alumni Impact through Digital Innovation. Designed to be inclusive of rural Papua New Guinea this year’s keynote speaker was Tania Major. She is an advocate for Aboriginal people and was named the 2007 Young Australian of the Year in recognition of her work. Tina is a vibrant and passionate leader and an internationally renowned speaker. Her insights into the world of remote Aboriginal Australians resonates with the rural communities of Papua New Guinea.
The dinner was also a chance to meet the 2019 Australia Awards Scholarship recipients along with prominent guests from the governments of Australia and Papua New Guinea in congratulating the next generation of leaders.
On Thursday and Friday, thirty Papua New Guinea Australia alumni (PNGAAA) and five Australia Awards Maritime Scholarships awardees participated in financial education training facilitated by Centre for Excellence in Financial Inclusion (CEFI) in Port Moresby. This was part of an agreement reached between the organisations to deliver a series of financial education workshops for PNGAAA members across Papua New Guinea. (more…)

Elizabeth Tandoa is an expressive arts teacher at Gerehu Secondary School who is using all of her talents to preserve and promote Papua New Guinean culture. A professional multimedia artist, Tandoa earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Queensland University of Technology through the Australia Awards Scholarship Program. (more…)
